Intrepid

 Model of the car:Intrepid
General comments:Didn't want such a big car, but my husband thought it would be safe. It feels like driving a boat down the street. We noticed a ticking noise in the engine just a few days after purchasing it. The dealers mechanic who inspected it said he couldn't hear anything. This was an obvious lie as the noise was very loud and has NEVER stopped in the 7 years that I've owned it. Luckily, it never has been a problem, besides driving us crazy. There has been several re-calls on it, which always worried me. Even though we bought it new, it seemed to be in a previous accident as the drivers door and the lines of the car didn't match up, and it has leaked on several occasions through the windows. This last year there has been lots of rattling noises in the dash that wont go away. The radio stops working sometimes, for no apparent reason, and now we are having shifting problems; one mechanic says we need a new transmission, another say's it's just a linkage problem and can easily be fixed. The back seat is roomy, and everyone loves that, big trunk, and though we're always getting lots of problems fixed, it's never stranded us or broken down completely. I wont buy another one, nor would i recommend it to anyone. But I've owned other cars that were worse. One friend owns an Intrepid and loves hers, another friend owns one and absolutely HATES it. Mine? I think it's mediocre.
What things have gone wrong with the car:Constant mechanical problems and small irritating noises!
