Intrepid
| | Model of the car: | Intrepid | | | General comments: | Was purchased in 97 for $9000 with only 53,000 miles. Given to from dad in 97, when he recieved new vehicle.Love the car. Has lots and lots and lots of room. Have many aftermarket stereo components and still have more than enough room. Has great looks and a pleasure to drive. Seats are extremely comfortable and supportive especially on long trips. Great visibility. Tremendous handling. Engine keeps on chugging and has no problem with higher revs. Four wheel disc brakes a must. (Drove Intrepids with both all wheel disc and disc front, drum rear). Definitely get one with a 3.5L engine and NOT the 3.3L like I have. It runs fine but 160HP is just not enough for a 3400lb car. The 3.5L has over 210. Heard that transmissions are a problem but mine still works fine after 105,000 miles-does shift a little rough. The air conditioner NEVER works. Get it fixed each spring, and each fall keeps breaking. Will no longer fix, just put windows down. Water pump and alternator will go out within 75,000 miles based on my experience and other family members that own Intrepids. Car definitely should be stored in a garage. Door seals leak and rust on the door trim due to extreme cold and salt. (Minnesota climate). Have had lots of repairs between 55,000 and 85,000 miles. No problems since. Even with all its problems it still is a great car and would recommend anyone getting one for $5000 used. Don't pay more than that, because you'll end up sinking alot into repair bills. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | -Air conditioning-Lacks power | | | Previous car: | 96 Ford Taurus-ran nice but had problems when milage increasedFeels more soldily built until used for a few days. |
