| | Model of the car: | Dodge Intrepid | | | General comments: | Bought the car new. Ran good until about 2 months ago then started making a knocking noise. Had it to mechanic and dodge dealer service dept. Couldn't find the problem. WOW...took it on vacation, broke down in VA. Towed the car back to PA. Found out the timimg chain went. Dodge tells us they made 2 different engines. One is designed that if the timing chain goes, it bends the valves. Guess what, I bought the one that bends the valves. Been getting the run around with it. State they can't just change timing chain they have to tear engine apart, because it MIGHT have ruined the valves. At the cost of more than $3,000. The car only has 54 thousand miles on it. Also right after waranty was up, both electric window motors went. No help from Dodge. Would never buy another one. Be sure to keep all records of oil changes (12 is not enough) needed 18, although it doesn't matter needless to say waranty is up. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | Major motor repairs needed after only 50 thousand miles | | | Previous car: | Oldsmobile Cutlass |
