Ford F-150 Extended Cab
| | Model of the car: | Ford F-150 Extended Cab | | | General comments: | Obviously, I really like this pickup. Driving onto the Chevy lot while shopping left me very disappointed. Even the 4x4's barely sit as tall as my 4x2 F-150. Why do they build their trucks like that? As for the Dodge, they are known to have some electrical quirks and Dodge sure is proud of those trucks when you look at the price tag. Anyway, the interior ergonomics of the Ford are outstanding and build quality is first rate. The truck does not rattle and wind noise does not exist. I opted for the captain's chairs and they are very comfortable even on six hour trips (I've done two). The power of the V-6 is not bad. It won't push you back in your seat off the line, but on the highway it is easy to be going 80mph and not even notice. Climbing hills at 4000' elevation over mountain passes was a concern of mine, however having climbed two such passes I simply deselected Overdrive and screamed up the mountain only turning 3000 rpm at 75-80mph. I paid 700 over invoice and felt very satisfied with the deal. Like I said, there is a reason the F-150 is the best selling truck in america and that is because when you look at similarly configured trucks, no company can match Ford in the price department and you end up with a great driving, great looking truck that still makes me grin whenever I get into to it. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | Fuel economy on the 4.2L V-6 is not as good as I would have liked (16.5 in town and 18.5 Hwy). Am considering a K&N air filter to help out, but it is a full size truck after all. | | | Previous car: | GM 1500 series - Too low to the ground and the new styling is not my tasteDodge 1500 seriers - Only come with the big motor and styling is getting tired. My father-in-law ate $8000 to get rid of his because of significant problems.By the way, both trucks |
